Character LCD is a liquid crystal display technology used in electronic devices that display text and simple icons, usually presented in a fixed character size and arrangement. A 20×4 character LCD refers to a liquid crystal display (LCD) module that can display 20 characters in each of its four rows. It is commonly known as a 20×4 character LCD or 20×4 alphanumeric LCD. LCD displays utilize liquid crystal cells and electrical currents to control the visibility of characters on the screen. 

Text Display: Character LCD is mainly used to display text information, usually presented in a fixed character size and arrangement. 
Save energy: Character LCD generally consumes less power than other display technologies, such as LED or color LCD, because it only needs to activate the liquid crystal to display text, without the need for a backlight.
High visibility: Character LCDs generally excel in high-light visibility. They are also clearly visible in direct sunlight and are suitable for outdoor applications.
Cost-Effectiveness: Due to its simple design and low power consumption, character LCD is generally more affordable than other display technologies and is therefore widely used in cost-sensitive projects.
